The Project

A new auditorium became the center of a connected campus.

A new auditorium creates an unusual opportunity. The most important technical decisions can be made before finished walls and ceilings hide the pathways that every system will depend on.

For Maple Springs Baptist Church, the work began with that larger view and then reached across the campus. Audio, video, production, networking, lighting, climate, surveillance, access, safety, and control were planned around the way the church would actually use the new auditorium and its existing education building.

The result is not simply a collection of installed products. It is a documented foundation that lets ministry, production, facility, and security functions share the right infrastructure while remaining practical for the people responsible for each part of the church.

The Challenge

Two buildings and many systems needed to work as one.

The new auditorium needed to support worship, music, recording, presentation, overflow viewing, staff operation, and day-to-day building use. Each system had its own requirements, but volunteers and staff could not be expected to manage a collection of disconnected technical islands.

The infrastructure also had to reach beyond the sanctuary and into the church's existing building, now used for education. Sound and video booths, the platform, foyer, nursery areas, offices, hallways, the security position, and supporting rooms all depended on structured cabling, dependable power, network capacity, clear labeling, and coordinated programming.

The Connected Approach

Built in phases, operated as one system.

The project joined worship production, media distribution, connectivity, safety, and building controls while keeping detailed network and security topology private.

Planning, infrastructure, and installation sequencing

The work was designed from the wire outward. Signal paths, network capacity, power, equipment locations, control requirements, and service access were coordinated before the finished walls and ceilings concealed the infrastructure.

The projection screens and laser projectors had to be installed and tested before the platform and choir loft closed off lift access. Completing that work at the right construction stage protected the finished room and kept later trades from trapping major equipment behind completed architecture.

Worship audio and sound-booth production

The sound booth brings together a 32-channel digital console, presentation computer, dedicated multitrack recording computer, wireless microphones, playback, monitoring, amplification, power sequencing, and the signal infrastructure connecting the platform to the production position.

Flown left and right loudspeaker arrays with subwoofers, a center full-range loudspeaker, stage monitoring, balcony fill, and distributed audio zones were placed and calibrated around the architecture. The visible console is only one part of the system; the racks, cabling, labeling, speaker placement, and programming make it work as a whole.

Video production, projection, and distribution

A dedicated rack-mount video-production computer, vMix production software, three NDI|HX PTZ camera positions, camera control, dual large-venue laser projectors, large-format screens, an 85-inch Samsung QLED confidence monitor, and matrix distribution created a complete path from the platform to the production booth and supporting displays.

The video position supports live production and recording while routing appropriate content to the sanctuary and other parts of the facility. Fiber, HDBaseT, SDI, HDMI, and network-based connections were selected where each signal path needed them without exposing the detailed topology publicly.

Network, control, security, and campus automation

Managed PoE switching, an enterprise router, wired connections, Wi-Fi, equipment racks, fiber links, surge protection, and battery backup form the shared infrastructure behind the media and control systems. The network was planned for production devices, staff use, facility operations, and the connection between buildings.

RTI control, Lutron lighting scenes, Venstar ColorTouch climate control, surveillance, access control, and ELK-based safety and automation functions coordinate the new auditorium with the education building. A dedicated security position can monitor both buildings and receive service, announcement, and ELK alert audio, while nursery assistance pulls provide location-specific notices when staff need help.

The Practical Result

A more capable campus without more technical islands.

Audio, cameras, recording, projection, and distribution now work from a common technical foundation. The production team can manage a service from organized sound and video positions while supporting the sanctuary and the other spaces that need to see or hear what is happening.

The network and control layers give lighting, climate, surveillance, access, safety alerts, and the education building a documented place in the same operating environment. Later additions and service are more practical because the original work was designed, labeled, programmed, and recorded as one connected campus.
